Umar and Aniraban get bail!

Delhi’s Patiala House Court has granted interim bail for six months to the arrested JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya have to furnish bail bond of 25 thousand each and one surety of same amount.

Court has directed that accused (Umar Khalid and Anirban) shall not leave Delhi without permission of court during interim bail period.

The court observed that both were highly educated and their credentials and family background had not been contested by the state.

JNU teachers have welcome the verdict renewing their demand to conduct a thorough and impartial probe.

Both have been in jail on charges of allegedly raising anti-national slogans on the campus on 9 February. Most videos shown in courts have been found to be doctored.
