2002 Karsevak families condemn violence

This is an excerpt from Final Solution, the national award-winning film that probes politics of hate. The film, premiered at the Berlin film festival, has over a dozen international awards, including the Berlinale’s Staudte Prize (now known as the Golden Bear for Best Debut).

The Panchal and Rawal families from Ahmedabad lost their loved ones inside S-6 of the ill-fated Sabarmati Express. Even as an entire election campaign unfolds, exploiting their tragedies, both families condemn the ‘revenge’ taken in their names during the 2002 carnage. Dr Rawal, retired government officer, even speaks of how politicians use people as pawns to win elections at any cost.
